Environmental Commission


The Environmental Commission was established in 1975 by the Board of County Commissioners to:
  • Promote recycling programs, alternative energy use, and energy conservation 
  • Provide public education through outreach events
  • Support other County environmental organizations 
  • Advise the Board of County Commissioners, the Department of Planning and Zoning, and the Planning Commission on environmental matters

Pump for the Bay Contest 2019

The Calvert County Environmental Commission needs your help to clean up and protect the Chesapeake Bay-- and you can win a cash reimbursement or other prizes! To enter, either pump out your septic tank or upgrade to a nitrogen-reducing tank. Then mail a copy of your paid bill or receipt along with the entry form included in the brochure (PDF) to: "Pump for the Bay Contest", Department of Planning and Zoning, 150 Main Street, Prince Frederick MD, 20678. All submissions must be received by the close of business on December 31, 2019 and winners will be randomly selected in January 2020.

Each member of the Environmental Commission is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for a limit of three consecutive three-year terms.
