  2. Southern Maryland Balloon Festival

    August 26, 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Spider Hall Farm

    Join us for this family-friendly event presented by Exelon Generation featuring tethered hot air balloon rides*, live bands, food vendors, a KIDZONE, and more! Enter our raffle for a chance to win one of two 45 minute non-tethered hot air balloon rides to be scheduled at a later date! Free parking is available at Hallowing Point Park, Calvert Co. Fairgrounds, CSM, and Barstow Elementary, with continuous shuttle service running throughout the day. This is a rain or shine event with NO RESCHEDULE DATE. All balloon activities & fireworks are wind and weather permitting, subject to authorization by on site FAA & pyrotechnics representatives. Proceeds from the Southern Maryland Balloon Festival support United Way of Calvert County's Community Impact & Basic Needs Grants, which provide funding to local nonprofit organizations running evidence-based programs that are making a difference in the lives of those living in Calvert County Maryland. *additional fees apply

    The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing to consider and receive comments on proposed amendments to the Calvert County Zoning Ordinance, Dunkirk Master Plan, Dunkirk Zoning Ordinance, Huntingtown Zoning Ordinance, Lusby Town Center Zoning Ordinance, Owings Town Center Zoning Ordinance, Prince Frederick Zoning Ordinance, St. Leonard Zoning Ordinance and Solomons Town Center Zoning Ordinance. The amendments propose to rescind and replace the current sign regulations. Interested persons are urged to view the legal notice and proposed amendments in their entirety by visiting the website or by contacting the Department of Planning & Zoning at 410-535-2348.
