Public Encouraged to Attend Third Round of Meetings on Comprehensive Plan Update

On behalf of the Calvert County Planning Commission, the Department of Community Planning and Building (CPB) will hold the third round of public meetings aimed at updating the county's Comprehensive Plan. Five workshops will be held in February, March and April, each focused on a different key issue.

Citizens are encouraged to attend the workshops and take an active role in this process. In response to participants' comments about wanting more time for the discussions, the duration of the remaining workshops, starting with the workshop March 27, is being extended from 90 minutes to two hours. The workshops commence at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Southern Maryland, Prince Frederick Campus, located at 115 J.W. Williams Road.

Mark your calendars and plan to participate in the remaining workshop schedule: 
 
• Monday, Feb. 6, Building B, Room 104, Providing an Efficient and Multi-Modal Transportation System
• Wednesday, Feb. 22, Building A, Room 119, Supporting Options in Community Character
• Thursday, March 9, Building A, Room 119, Strengthening Economic Vitality and Tourism
       TO BE RESCHEDULED
• Monday, March 27, Building B, Room 104, Fostering Communities with Multi-Generational    Opportunities
• Thursday, April 6, Building A, Room 119, Preserving Rural Character and Directing Growth to Existing Population Centers
• Strengthening Economic Vitality and Tourism (TO BE SCHEDULED)

Two weeks prior to each workshop, background information will be made available online for review. The material for the first workshop “Providing an Efficient and Multi-Modal Transportation System” provides background information, summarizes major ideas and suggests strategies. These documents will be posted online at the link provided below.

Residents can also share their vision for Calvert County’s future by taking a few moments to complete a survey using the online tool.
