The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding donation of a barn.

The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding a security assessment of
County buildings.

The Board will consult with staff regarding potential litigation.

The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding the expansion of a
business in Calvert County.

Summary of Actions Taken
Presented a proclamation declaring the month of October as Healthcare Careers Awareness Month, urging students of all ages, educators, and practitioners to focus on the opportunities and benefits of a career in healthcare.
Presented a proclamation declaring the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, urging all citizens to participate in the efforts to end the violence in our homes, in our schools, and in our communities. The Commissioners directed staff to prepare a letter for their signature to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regarding the cuts that have been made to the funding for Crisis Intervention Center.
Appointed Leo Ritter to the Employees’ Retirement Savings Plan Board of Trustees.
Awarded Kelly Generator & Equipment, Inc., of Owings, Maryland, the Generator Preventative Maintenance Service and Repair Contract for the bid amount of $18,270. Commissioner Parran directed staff to keep track of the hours used and report back in six to nine months. Commissioner Kelley directed staff to provide a list of who has been doing the work for the past 12 months and how much has been spent; as well as the name of companies that had issues with Gene’s Generator Service.
Approved and authorized the President of the Board to sign the FFY 2008 Certified Local Government Project Contract with The Ottery Group to conduct an architectural history project in the Wilson Road community for the bid amount of $17,500. The Maryland Historical Trust will reimburse the County up to $15,000, with the remaining monies coming from the Historic District Commission.
Approved the Charitable Bingo Permit application as submitted by Appeal Elementary School PTA.
Attended the Ribbon Cutting for Super Suppers located in Prince Frederick. Super Suppers is ready to supply a full menu of prepared “take and bake” meals offering culinary convenience.
Attended a tour of the new Barstow Elementary School that is scheduled to open for students the first week of November.
