           The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding a proposed easement
            acquisition for the Prince Frederick Loop Road.

This agenda is subject to change. If any items are added for consideration, they will be included on
  a revised agenda that will be issued prior to the closed session.

BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, August 8, 2006

Calvert County Fair Board presented the Board of County Commissioners with the 2006 Fair Book.

Appointed Glenwood D. Conner to the Calvert County Agriculture Commission.

Appointed Jack R. Smith to the Calvert County Economic Development Authority.

Re-appointed Jacqueline R. Bradley and appointed Evan K. Slaughenhoupt Jr. to the Calvert County Ethics Commission.

Appointed Donald J. House to the St. Leonard Architectural Review Committee.

Approved the Ordinance to grant property tax credits to businesses that meet the following criteria:  it must be a targeted industry; it must create at least 25 new full-time jobs having an average salary no lower than the average salary for similar jobs in the industry; and it must invest at least $2.5 million in real estate, improvements to real estate, or equipment.

Approved a 50% property tax credit for 15 years for Constellation Generation Group, LLC, for the potential construction of a new reactor at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. The tax credits would commence when, and if, the new reactor is placed in service. Authorized the President to sign the agreement.

Approved the amended restricted funds budget in the amount of $11,987,906 for the Board of Education.

Awarded Facchina Construction Company, of La Plata, Maryland, the contract for the construction of the Lusby Southern Connector Road for the bid amount of $11,840,000.

Held a public hearing and approved the bond issuance by the City of Gaithersburg for the refunding of the Asbury of Solomons bonds and authorized signing of the related Resolution.

Approved the design concept for the indoor aquatic center as presented by staff. This concept does not include the elevation (silo), but strictly the 50 meter pool and three additional tanks. Authorized staff to negotiate a design contract with Smolen & Emr. Directed staff to bring the final design and contract to the Board for approval. Authorized staff to proceed into negotiations with the property owner to purchase the necessary land. Directed staff to proceed with the budget adjustment necessary for the acquisition of the property.

Authorized staff to proceed with the acquisition of the requisite easements for the Prince Frederick Loop Road.
