Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, August 22, 2006
Recognized Sergeant David Payne as Employee of the Month for July 2006. Sgt. Payne, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, was recognized for doing an exemplary job while standing in for the Patrol Division Commander during his recent extended absence while attending a 10-week FBI training assignment. Sgt. Payne went above and beyond the normal handling of the day-to-day operations of the Patrol Division and even initiated a new Field Training Officer Program.
Approved the FY 2007 Budget for the Calvert Marine Museum Board of Governors as presented.
Approved budget adjustment 63 in the amount of $19,133 from the Board of Education’s Capital Contingency Fund to cover the costs associated with the Appeal Mechanical Project.
Awarded JPS Cleaning of Baltimore, Maryland, the contract for the custodial services of the new Prince Frederick Library for the bid amount of $32,631.98, to commence upon the opening of the new library. Directed staff to find out what the current contract is for the old Prince Frederick Library.
Approved the Deed of Conservation Easement for open space as submitted by James R. Hardesty Jr. and Gladys Yvonne Hardesty. Directed staff to find out who owns the open space.
Awarded a Fire and Rescue Apparatus Grant to the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department in the amount of $120,429 for the purchase of a new ambulance. Released the lien and forgave the remaining balance on the current loan ($12,163) for Ambulance 39. This unit will be traded-in and any proceeds will be applied to the purchase of the new ambulance and equipment. Directed staff to provide the Board with a list of approved allocations by department.
Approved Change Order No. 1 for the Shores of Calvert Contract 06-04 and the related budget adjustment 62 in the amount of $49,800.65, transferring funds from the Stormwater Management Capital Account to the Shores of Calvert Capital Account.
Approved the late 3rd Quarter Gambling Permit Application submitted by the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department for an event on Saturday, August 26, and Saturday, September 23, 2006.
Directed staff to enter into negotiations with the owner of property in Huntingtown for Program Open Space.
Approved a change to the Commissioners’ meeting schedule, canceling the meeting on November 14, 2006.
