VI. PLANNING SESSION – Administrative Function 11:15 a.m.
The planning session is a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners
and County department heads. This group constitutes the local equivalent
to the Governor’s cabinet. Pursuant to Section 10-502 (h) (3) (viii) of the State
Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, this group is not a public
body subject to the Open Meetings Act. This meeting will be closed to the public.

Re-appointed Martha W. Grahame and appointed Celeste Fort to the Board of Library Trustees.
Re-appointed Michael W. Benton, Mark J. Davis, and Lloyd B. Harrison, III, and appointed Lisa M. McCoy, Dawn Balinski, and Alonzo Barber, III, to the Economic Development Commission.
Appointed Barbara H. Fringer to the Lusby Town Center Architectural Review Committee.
Re-appointed Kelly Chambers to the Social Services Advisory Board (SSAB). Directed staff to have Ms. Chambers forward the minutes of the SSAB meetings to the Commissioners.
Re-appointed William Robert McCready to the St. Leonard Architectural Review Committee.
Approved Budget Adjustment #273, in the amount of $98,182, from the Commisssioners Contingency Fund to be used for the additional legal expenses incurred for the law suit with the Chesapeake Ranch Water Company, which to date totals $621,432.
Approved the late Gambling Permit Application submitted by the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for an event on February 2, 2007.
Approved the Certification of Development Options application submitted by Kings Ridge of Calvert LLC / C.B. Bernie Fowler, Inc., for APD #06-06, allowing for 43 development options.
Approved Budget Adjustment #291, in the amount of $37,000, utilizing existing capital outlay funds, for the emergency completion of the Mason Road Waterline Interconnection project due to sand/clay intrusion into the well rendering the well non-operational. Directed staff to provide the Board with how many people the Mason Road Waterline serves?
Added December 24 and December 31 as holidays for all County employees in 2007.
Directed staff to research the following and report their findings back to the Board:
- Why has there not been any action on an application received in October 2006 for the Housing Authority Board.
- Can a special advertisement/article be written with a complete listing of all the Boards and Commissions so the public is aware of all the different ones available to them?
Directed staff to prepare a letter for the Board’s signature requesting support from the Southern Maryland Delegation that the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) put Boyd’s Turn Road at Route 260 at the top of the Priority Listing for SHA projects.
Directed staff to research the possibility of putting a shoulder on the County’s portion of Route 508/Adelina Road for pedestrian safety.
Approved the list of dates for future Board of County Commissioners’ meetings as follows:
