The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding a proposed
development agreement for the Lusby Parkway.
This agenda is subject to change. If any items are added for consideration, they will be
included on a revised agenda that will be issued prior to the closed session.

BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, February 6, 2007
Presented a proclamation to Donald Bowen on his retirement from Calvert County Government after serving two years with the Buildings and Grounds Division, and 17 years with the Control Center Division.
Appointed Barry P. Grier to the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of Calvert County. Directed staff to advertise for a 3rd district applicant with the next term expiration.
Appointed Bernice L. Burroughs and Debra A. Jones to the Calvert County Agriculture Commission. Directed staff to advertise for a 1st district applicant for the remaining vacancy.
Appointed Catherine A. Sheridan to the Common Ownership Infrastructure Advisory Committee. Directed staff to research all Calvert County Boards and Commissions to determine which ones have set guidelines relating to equal district appointments and provide the Board with a copy of these guidelines.
Appointed Timothy C. Young to the Social Services Advisory Board.
Housing for All Calvert presented their Adding An Accessory Apartment brochure to the Commissioners, requesting this be available in County offices and as a link on the County website. Commissioners voiced their concern and requested that the specific bank/contractor listings be removed and reference to the excise tax be added prior to being made available through the Department of Planning and Zoning. Directed staff to review the Landlord – Tenant Law section for accuracy. Also directed staff to look at the excise tax being charged and bring any recommendations back to the Board during the Work Session on Affordable Housing on March 6.
Accepted the Technology Mini Grant in the amount of $3,000 from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Library Development and Services, for Calvert Library and approved Budget Adjustment 248 in order to establish this grant.
Accepted the Local Coordinating Council (LCC) grant in the amount of $90,000 from the Governor’s Office for Children and approved Budget Adjustment 322 in order to establish this grant.
Approved a date revision for Calvert Soccer Association, Inc.’s, previously approved gambling permit application.
Authorized staff to proceed with researching the permit fees currently charged and the cost of providing inspection and permitting services.
Awarded Wheeler Goodman Masek, of Annapolis, Maryland, the contract to perform architectural design services for the Calvert Substance Abuse Facility in the amount of $188,951.68.
Attended the Annual Service Award Presentation at Calvert Pines Senior Center. Miriam Gholl, Department of Planning and Zoning, was awarded “Employee of the Year.”
