Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, February 13, 2007
Presented a proclamation designating February as “Energy Assistance Month,” expressing appreciation to all the volunteers and staff who have worked diligently to provide energy assistance in response to numerous requests from Calvert County residents.
Re-appointed John E. Hassler to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.
Re-appointed Linda M. Collins and Thomas Dugan to the Historic District Commission and directed staff to re-advertise for the remaining vacancy.
Appointed Regina G. Chace, Dolores L. Parran, Wendy Spriggs, and Sonia K. Wagner to the Tri-County Youth Services Bureau Board of Directors.
Approved and authorized the President of the Board to sign the letters in support of the Calvert Marine Museum submission of two grants: the Southern Maryland Heritage Area Consortium and the Maryland Historical Trust. Directed staff to provide the Board with information about the distance learning educational program for the museum and a breakdown of how the second grant in the amount of $200,000 will be utilized.
Approved a late Gambling Permit Application for the 1st Quarter of 2007 for the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department. Directed staff to prepare a letter for Board’s signature to the Gambling Permit Review Committee and the regular applicants informing them that late applications will no longer be accepted in accordance with the Gambling Permit Review Committee’s Rules and Regulations.
Awarded Calvert Mechanical, of Huntingtown, Maryland, the HVAC Installation and Repair Contract for the bid amount of $260,750.
Awarded Webb Gen Tech Services, LLC, of Fairfax, Virginia, the Generator Preventive Maintenance Service and Repair Contract for the bid amount of $24,435. Directed staff to inform the Board as to whom the current contractor is, and why there weren’t any bidders from Calvert County.
Approved the Rural Legacy easement amendment as requested by the Campbell’s, owners of the existing property.
Approved and authorized the President of the Board to sign the grant application for the FFY 2007 Certified Local Government Grant. Directed staff to research the possibility of a grant to cover a research project on the history of local road names.
