Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, May 1, 2007

Convened as the Board of Health to take action on a request presented by the Calvert County Health Department. Approved and adopted the Resolution in support of the Pandemic Flu Plan and its associated planning process.

Presented a proclamation designating the week of May 7 – 13, 2007, as Respect for Law Week, urging all citizens to join with the Optimist Clubs of Calvert County in carrying the message of respect for law by exercising responsible citizenship.

Presented a proclamation designating the week of May 19 – 25, 2007, as National Safe Boating Week, urging all who use our county and national waterways to acquire the knowledge and skills essential to their own safety and safety of others.

Presented a proclamation designating the month of May as Historic Preservation Month, urging all citizens to join in celebrating the role history has in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve all aspects of our heritage.

Received the “Preserve America Community” designation for Calvert County, which is a White House initiative that recognizes and designates communities that protect and celebrate their heritage, use their historic assets for economic development and community revitalization, and encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources.

Recognized the winners and participants of the Calvert County Senior Arts Competition. The winners are as follows:

Approved the report given by the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory and accepted their recommendations regarding the Mill Creek Watershed Nutrient Reduction Implementation Plan.

Approved the proposed 2007 Mill Creek Water Quality Study and directed staff to continue the water quality monitoring in the Mill Creek Watershed.

Approved and signed a letter to the State Highway Administration stating the County’s request to keep the intersection of Town Square Drive and MD 765 in Lusby as a signalized intersection rather than a roundabout.

Approved and signed the Right of Entry Agreement with Fox Run Limited Partnership for the extension of Fox Run Boulevard to Chesapeake Boulevard.

Approved and signed the Agreement of Sale Contract for the fee simple acquisition of property from Philip T. Goldstein for the extension of Fox Run Boulevard to Chesapeake Boulevard.

Approved and signed the Agreement of Sale Contract for the fee simple and easement acquisition of property from Verizon, Maryland, Inc., for Chesapeake Boulevard.

Declared that the acquisition of a portion of the Lazarewicz property is needed for a public purpose and authorized staff to retain counsel to represent the County in any legal proceedings brought to secure the property.
