Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
Presented the Employee Recognition Committee’s 2007 Scholarship Awards to the following: Alison R. Heilie, daughter of Pamela Heilie, Department of Planning and Zoning; Susanna Kaumeyer, daughter of Kenneth Kaumeyer, Calvert Marine Museum; Emily Ann Pilling, daughter of Sheila Pilling, Department of Technology Services; and Courtney C. Ross, daughter of Vicki Ross, Office of Personnel.
Appointed Dr. Randy Cantrell to the Agriculture Commission.
Re-appointed Frank Krohnert, III, and appointed Nancy J. Alexander, Patricia A. Freil, Paul R. McManimon, and Pearl A. Miller to the Commission on Aging.
Received a briefing on the Environmental Commission’s goals and activities. Directed the Commission on the following items:
- Provide the Board with input on upcoming House Bills and/or regulatory changes 90 days in advance of decision deadline, in particular the HB1220 - Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Green Fund
- Provide input to the community on environmentally friendly products use and where to find them
- Tie the “Pump for the Bay” contest to a measurable benchmark
- Provide the Board with an “environmental report card” consistent with the Comprehensive Plan
- Authorized staff to prepare a resolution to increase the Commission’s membership by four, making a total of 10 members
- Link the Health Department’s information on “Care of Your Septic System” on the County’s website
- Look into the issues regarding the Mill Creek Watershed
Approved the Certification of Development Options application submitted by Laura E. Katz, George J. Weems Jr., Thomas L. Weems, Marsha Wall Taylor, Courtney Weems-Looman, and Thomas I. Weems, III, for APD #95-7, allowing for 95 development options.
Adopted a five-year period for Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation District Agreements.
Awarded the Prince Frederick Boulevard North Contract to Corinthian Contractors, Inc., of Arlington, Virginia, for the bid amount of $2,630,000.
Approved a budget adjustment in the amount of $193,685.20 for the electrical and mechanical work to cover the completion of the emergency replacement of the Mason Court Well.
Held a public hearing regarding a request from the Property Owners Association of Chesapeake Ranch Estates for a third Special Taxing District. Approved leaving the record open until close of business Monday, June 18, 2007.
