The Board will meet with staff to discuss a recommendation from the Grievance Board.

SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Presented Corporal Jim Wahlgren, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, with a certificate and monetary award for being chosen as Employee of the Month for October 2007. Cpl. Wahlgren was recognized for the outstanding job he did while taking on additional responsibilities during the temporary absence of 1st Sergeant McDonough.
Presented Jacqueline K. Vaughan, Chief of Communications, Calvert County Control Center, with a certificate and monetary award for being chosen for the Pride and Quality Award. Ms. Vaughan was recognized for her initiative and hard work investigating and pursuing funding from the Emergency Number System Board for a new 9-1-1 Phone System for Calvert County, saving the County $1,130,322.
Appointed Ken Snoddy to the Sheriff’s Department Pension Plan Board of Trustees.
Approved and signed the Reconfiguration Planning Agreement with Motorola for the 800 MHz Communications System Rebanding/Reconfiguration Plan.
Held a public hearing regarding the health insurance reimbursement the County received in the amount of $941,695. Approved budget adjustment #215 appropriating $180,000 to fund a premium holiday for County employees and retirees and $761,695 as an additional Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) contribution and signed the related resolution.
Held a public hearing and approved budget adjustment #217 in the amount of $231,500 in order to make the debt service payment to the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) for the bonds they issued relating to Chesapeake Hills Golf Course, signed the related resolution, and authorized staff to make the payment to MEDCO.
Approved the list of 2008 Legislative Items to be presented to the Calvert County Delegation.
Approved and authorize the President of the Board to sign the documents relating to Private Roads and Highway User Revenues with the Property Owners Association of Chesapeake Ranch Estates and the Drum Point Property Owners Association.
Held a work session and approved the proposed process the Department of Planning and Zoning will use for the re-writing of the Town Center Ordinances and directed staff to follow through with scheduling.
Approved and signed the letter from R.A. Barrett acknowledging that the County has no plans or intent to construct a portion of Chicago Avenue as a publicly maintained road.
Approved and authorized the President of the Board to sign the OPEB Trust Fund document and approved the modified roster for the Board of Trustees of the Calvert County OPEB Trust Fund.
Suspended any action on the application for an NG Beach Bingo License and directed staff to hold a work session addressing: the fee structure; hours of operation; number of machines allowed; and have the State’s Attorney review the recent ruling on such licenses.
Attended a ribbon cutting at the newly-renovated Highway Maintenance Facility on Stafford Road.
Held a meeting and presented the County’s list of 2008 Legislative Items to the Calvert County Delegation.
Added Friday, December 26, 2008, and Friday, January 2, 2009, as Administrative Leave days for all County employees.
