The Board of County Commissioners is soliciting applicants for the committees listed below. Calvert County residents who are registered voters in Calvert County should apply. Adult Guardianship Review Board

ONLY physicians and individuals with a physical disability should apply.
State law requires each local Department of Social Services to implement a program of protective services for disabled individuals and vulnerable adults. Each jurisdiction must appoint an Adult Guardianship Review Board to review guardianships held by public agencies within their area. Info: 410-535-4370.

Agriculture Commission

Residents of District 1 or 3 should apply.
Primary goal is to promote the continuance of viable farming industries in Calvert County, explore and develop new agri-business, and act as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners on issues affecting agriculture. Agriculture Preservation Advisory Committee

Building Board of Calvert County
1 Vacancy (Term Expiration)
The Board reviews and recommends changes, additions, or deletions to the Building Code, rules and regulations, setting of fees, and such other requirements they deem necessary for public safety, health, and general welfare. The Board also approves building contractors’ license applications and reviews contractors’ problems. Calvert County Family Network Board of Directors

Serves as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, facilitating the implementation and/or enhancement of those programs mandated by the State (via the Governor’s Office for Children), targeting at-risk youth and families. Calvert Housing Opportunities Committee

Commisson for Women
2 Vacancies (Term Expiration and Unfilled Vacancy)
Serves as a clearinghouse for information/activities important to local women: discrimination, development and enhancement of skills, continuing education, and helping women re-enter the workforce or advance in their fields. Calvert County women who have made significant contributions are recognized annually. Common Ownership Infrastructure Advisory Committee

Citizens that reside in private or commonly owned communities in Districts 2 or 3 should apply.
Acts as an advisory Committee to the Board of County Commissioners on matters involving infrastructure needs throughout communities in Calvert County; Serves as an informational source to organizations responsible for common ownership infrastructure. Employees’ Retirement Plan Board of Trustees

Citizens with expertise in finance, pension administration, or investing should apply.
The County has adopted the Calvert County Employees Retirement Plan effective July 1, 1996, for the benefit of its eligible employees; and whereas, the assets of the Plan shall be held in trust for the exclusive purposes of providing benefits to participants in the Plan and their beneficiaries, and defraying reasonable expenses of administering the Plan and the Trust. Environmental Commission

The Commission makes recommendations to the Department of Planning and Zoning, Planning Commission, and Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on matters that affect the environment (air, land, and water) in Calvert County. As approved by the BOCC the goals of the Commission are to: reduce nutrient pollution from septic systems, encourage environmentally sensitive watershed management practices, develop regulations for forest replacement outside the Critical Area and for the protection of large tracts of contiguous forests, make recommendations for directing growth to Town Centers, encourage energy and water conservation, and encourage Green Buildings and improved storm water management practices. Gambling Permit Review Committee

Heritage Committee

The Committee acts as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners by identifying ways to increase public awareness of Calvert County’s rich historical and cultural heritage and promotes the diversity of the historical and cultural resources of Calvert County. Lusby Architectural Review Committee

Residents and business owners should apply.  In addition, resident/business owners with expertise in architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design, planning, engineering or related fields should apply.

Other Post Employment Benefits Trust Fund Board of Trustees

Residents with expertise in funding retiree health benefits or investing pension fund assets should apply.

The Trustees shall have the authority and discretion to manage and control the Trust to the extent provided in the Calvert County Other Post Employment Benefits Trust Agreement, but do not guarantee the Trust in any manner against investment loss or depreciation in asset value, or guarantee the adequacy of the Trust to meet and discharge all or any liabilities of the Plan. Prince Frederick Architectural Review Committee

The committee makes recommendations to the Calvert County Planning Commission on all new remodeling of existing commercial, office, industrial, and institutional buildings; additions to existing residential buildings visible from existing or proposed public roads; remodeling of existing residential buildings visible from public roads if they are located within the Old Town District, Old Town Residential District, Old Town Transitional District, or Fairgrounds District; new signs and changes to existing signs and new fences; and changes to existing fences visible from existing or proposed public roads. Sheriff’s Department Pension Plan Board of Trustees

Social Services Advisory Board
