Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, January 6, 2004
Kicked-Off Calvert County’s 350th Anniversary Celebration.
Held a public hearing on a proposed Tax Credit Ordinance for land subject to conservation easements or owned by land trusts. Approved holding the record open for two weeks and requested additional information.
Reappointed Gale Parks to the Employee Recognition Committee and appointed Susan Evans and Stephanie Taylor to fill vacancies due to resignations.
Approved an amendment to the easement agreement with the Prince Frederick Rescue Squad regarding revenue for communication antennae on the water tower.
Approved Certification of Development Options for: Hyde/Grover Property; Hall Farm; and American Chestnut Land Trust (Double Oak Road).
Discussed a proposed Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Chesapeake Beach and Critical Area Commission regarding tree mitigation for construction of a water tower in the Town within the critical area. Deferred action; requested information.
Approved extending the hours at the compactor sites open on Sundays from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 p.m.
Approved gambling permits for the first quarter of 2004. Also approved a gambling permit from the third quarter of 2003.
Held a work session with staff on proposed regulations on "big box" retail stores. Directed that another work session be scheduled to review changes made today.
