Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, February 17, 2004
Reappointed John Bailey, Richard Barrett, and Stuart Giles to the Building Board. Also appointed John Jessie Scott, Jr. to fill a vacancy.
Reappointed Michael Benton, Danita Boonchaisri, and Thomas Esterly to the Economic Development Commission. Appointed Richard Bingham, Lloyd B. Harrison, III, and Carole Woodward to fill vacancies due to term expirations and a resignation.
Approved authorizing the President of the Board to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the County and the Tri-County Council for grant funds to complete the butcher shop at the Calvert Country Market.
Approved budget adjustment #312, Circuit Court.
Awarded the contract as recommended for the roof renovation project at the Appeal Landfill to the low bidder, J.E. Wood and Sons Company, Inc.
Denied the request of the Calvert County Traffic Safety Council to place signs in the County district parks showing the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities as the result of impaired drivers. Directed staff to work with the Traffic Safety Council to identify locations for the signs on Route 2/4, Route 231 and Route 260.
Held a public hearing on a budget adjustment on reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for expenses incurred by the County as a result of Hurricane Isabel. Approved budget adjustment 289, recognizing the reimbursement and the use of funds from Commissioners Contingency that the reimbursement did not cover.
Attended a luncheon meeting at the Maryland Cooperative Extension.
Held a work session with staff and representatives from the State Highway Administration on traffic impact studies.
