BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, March 23, 2004
Calvert High Cavalier Players previewed its production of "Guys and Dolls".
Presented a proclamation for Agriculture Week and recognized Agriculture Week poster contest winners.
Held a public hearing on amendments to the Calvert County Employees Retirement Savings Plan. Approved the amendments.
Appointed David Parrott to the Commission for Individuals with Disabilities to fill a vacancy due to a resignation.
Reappointed Thomas Buckler and Charlene Sparrow to the Employee Recognition Committee. Also appointed Aimee Whitman to fill a vacancy due to a resignation; and appointed Thomas Parran III to the newly created retiree member slot.
Approved Community Development Block Grant plans.
Held a public hearing on a resolution in connection with the upcoming general obligation bond sale. Adopted the resolution.
Awarded the contract for plumbing installation and repair to the low bidder, Citywide, Inc. as recommended.
Awarded the contract for custodial services for the State Office Building to L&M Jones Janitorial Services.
Held a public hearing on a budget adjustment for reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) for repairs to Breezy Point Park due to damages from Hurricane Isabel. Approved budget adjustment #388.
Approved scheduling a public hearing to consider a third special tax district for Drum Point.
Deferred action on a budget adjustment for repairs to Medic 2, Calvert Advanced Life Support. Requested information.
Approved budget adjustment #391 for repairs to Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department’s Truck 3.
Approved budget adjustment #390 for repairs to North Beach Volunteer Fire Department’s Tower 1.
Approved gambling permits for the second quarter of 2004.
Held a work session with staff and reviewed a draft of the "big box" zoning regulations. Directed that revisions/additions be made to the proposed regulations and presented to the Board before being submitted to outside agencies for review.
