BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Summary of Action Taken

Tuesday, March 30, 2004

Received items in connection with the County’s 350th Anniversary; received information on a 350th commemorative coverlet being sold by the Calvert County Historical Society.

Presented a Pride and Quality Award to Louis Gross, Sr., Solid Waste Truck Driver, Department of Public Works.

Recognized James Flynt, Correctional Officer, Detention Center, as Employee of the Month for March.

Presented proclamations for Alcohol Awareness Month; Red Cross Month; and Boys and Girls Club Week.

Held a public hearing on a land swap at Calvert High School in connection with development of property adjacent to the school. Approved the land swap and authorized the President of the Board to execute documents in connection with the exchange.

Reappointed Thomas LaMoure to the Huntingtown Architectural Committee.

Approved changes in the rates at the Treatment Facility effective at the beginning of the fiscal year.

Approved renewing the contract with DWI Services, Inc. for operation of the Treatment Facility.

Authorized the President of the Board to sign agreements with the Developmental Disabilities Administration and Office on Aging.

Approved an extension until April 30, 2004 for the Board of Education to submit its FY 2005 budget.

Deferred action until next week on the scope of work for the Huntingtown Transportation Study.

Approved Certification of Development Options – Terence and Mary Gibson; and William and Louise Buckler.

Approved sending a letter to the Maryland Department of Planning certifying that Randle Cliff Naval Research Laboratory is a Priority Funding Area.

Approved budget adjustment #396, for repair of the hot water system in the maximum security area of the Detention Center.

Met with members of the Lighting Task Force and reviewed proposed outdoor lighting regulations. Agreed to send out the proposed regulations for agency review.

Met with members of the Housing Policy Task Force and received recommendations on affordable housing in Calvert County.

Received the FY 2005 staff budget.
