BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, May 25, 2004
Participated in the presentation of the Employee Recognition Committee’s annual scholarship awards to dependents of County employees.
Presented a Pride and Quality Award to Beverly Davis, Administrative Aide, Circuit Court.
Presented the 2004 Historic Preservation Awards.
Held a public hearing on a budget adjustment in connection with the Maryland Economic Development Corporation revenue bonds – Chesapeake Hills Golf Course. Approved budget adjustment #555.
Held a public hearing on increasing the Forest Conservation fees-in-lieu from $.10 to $.45 per square foot. Approved the increase in the fee.
Received the report on water quality monitoring in the Solomons Harbor system.
Appointed George Spence, Jr. to the Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board to fill a vacancy.
Appointed Henry Trentman to the Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Committee to fill a vacancy due to a resignation. Also approved that the other vacancy on the Committee be re-advertised. Candidates from the first and third districts are preferred.
Reappointed I. Alan Burke to the Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board.
Transferred staffing of the Calvert County Technology Council from the Department of Economic Development to the Office of Technology Services.
Denied the recommendation on awarding the contract for auditing services. Directed that staff reassess the proposals and make another recommendation.
Discussed a proposed excise tax policy regarding replacement of a dwelling. Directed that staff meet with the County Attorney to formulate a proposed policy for Board review.
Reviewed and discussed a draft update of the Water and Sewer Plan developed by a consultant. Directed that a work session be scheduled in the near future to thoroughly review the proposed document.
Awarded the special projects contract for the southern end of the County to J. Calvin Wood, Jr., Inc. as recommended.
Held the first of three public informational hearings on Code Home Rule form of government.
