BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, June 15, 2004
Awarded the contract for the Solomons Wastewater Treatment Plant screen systems to Johnston Construction Company as recommended and directed staff to proceed with phase one of the project.
Adopted the FY 2005 budget. Also approved a resolution increasing the 911 fee from $.50 to $.75.
Reappointed Holly Rogers Briscoe, Wenderland Broome, Carl Buchheister, Julie Hale, Pat Haynie, Kathy Park, Mary Ellen Romney, David Thomas and Jeff Walker to the Core Service Agency Advisory Board.
Reappointed Pamela Shubert to the Southern Maryland Travel and Tourism Committee and appointed Jodi Fisher to fill a vacancy due to a term expiration.
Deferred action on a policy regarding payment of the building excise tax on replacement dwellings. Requested additional information from staff.
Received a report from the Calvert County Technology Council regarding the Tri-County Task Force Initiative for Broadband Communications in Southern Maryland. Agreed to send a letter to the Tri-County Council supporting the initiative.
Designated Dana Jones as Chair and Maureen Hoffman as Vice Chair of the Calvert County Family Network for FY 2005.
Approved an easement requested by Calvert Memorial Hospital across County property where the Health Department is located in connection with the hospital’s renovation project.
Discussed a memorandum from staff regarding the County requesting State funding for expansion of the Detention Center. Directed that a work session be scheduled in the next two weeks to review options.
Awarded the contract for repair to the hot water system at the Detention Center to H.B.S., Inc.
Approved Certification of Development Options – Carroll and Ida Chambers.
Approved two promotions in the Sheriff’s Office. Funding will be from outside sources.
Approved a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) for Yardley Hills town homes, phase one.
Held the second of three public informational hearings on Code Home Rule form of government.
