BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, July 13, 2004
Participated in the Calvert County 350th Anniversary time capsule ceremony on the Courthouse grounds.
Held a public hearing on an Open Space Revolving Loan Fund application from Calvert Farmland Trust for acquisition of the Mackall Farm. Approved the application.
Deferred appointments to the Core Service Agency Advisory Board.
Discussed a recent determination by the Maryland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration that the County’s 28-day inpatient substance treatment program will no longer be covered by State funds unless it is extended to a 60 day treatment program. Directed staff to draft a letter to the Governor expressing concern over the change; and directed staff to inquire whether the Judges would be willing to send a letter as well.
Approved scheduling a public hearing on a proposed Workplace Violence Policy after review and comment from the Calvert Employees Representative Committee.
Reviewed and modified questions and answers regarding Code Home Rule government to be posted on the County web page.
Authorized that one employee per department who volunteers for the United Way Day of Caring be granted administrative leave. More than one employee per department will require County Administrator approval.
Approved apparatus grants for the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for replacement of ambulance 58 and ambulance 59.
Approved the following Certification of Development Options: John T. Crane, Jr. and C.B. Bernie Fowler, Inc.; Joseph and Marilyn Tiralla; Douglas S. Ewalt; The Gott Company; John T. Crane, Jr; and John T. Lewnes and Michael M. Lewnes.
Approved budget adjustment #2, upgrade of the Septage Facility, Solomons Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Held a joint public hearing with the Planning Committee on proposed regulations on big boxes and adequate public facilities regulations for commercial and industrial uses. The Planning Commission approved holding the record open for two weeks.
