Tuesday, November 09, 2004
Recognized Frank Jaklitsch, Director, Department of Planning and Zoning on being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Presented a proclamation for Youth Appreciation Week.
Received a presentation from the U.S. Geological Survey regarding a USGS project of well monitoring that gives instant data on water tables which is available over the internet.
Held a public hearing on a budget adjustment for a funding shortfall in connection with the construction of the Fleet Maintenance Facility. Approved budget adjustment #177. Also awarded the contract to the low bidder, Dennis Anderson Construction as recommended.
Received a report from the consultant on population forecast at the Detention Center. Directed staff to provide information on the Community Adult Rehabilitation Center (CARC) legislation. Also directed staff to schedule a work session with the Judges and State’s Attorney regarding various issues relating to the Detention Center population.
Appointed Elena J. Whipple to the Commission for Individuals with Disabilities to fill a vacancy due to a term expiration.
Appointed Michael Benton to the Economic Development Authority to fill a vacancy due to a resignation. Also approved that the resolution for the Economic Development Authority be amended to designate that the Chairman of the Economic Development Commission (or designee) have a permanent seat on the EDA.
Approved scheduling a public hearing on an amendment to the excise tax ordinance regarding habitable dwellings.
Approved a lease agreement with Cingular Wireless for the lease of space on the County’s water tower at the Highland subdivision.
Approved budget adjustment #180, Calvert Country Market.
Approved Converting Lots to TDRs certifications for Gerald T. Fowler and Stephen and Carol Reif.
Designed Commissioner Hale as the MACO Legislative Committee Representative and Commissioner Parran as the Alternate.
Held a work session with staff regarding the Treatment Facility.
Met with the Legislative Delegation regarding legislative issues for the 2005 General Assembly.
