Summary of Action Taken
Tuesday, February 08, 2005
Presented a proclamation to Russell Costley for recognition of 19 years service on the Library Board of Trustees.
Held a work session for Water rate adjustments for Public Information meeting #4 for Cavalier Country, Lakewood, and Shores of Calvert. Approved that the Commissioners sign an invitation letter and it be mailed with an informational packet to all customers of Cavalier Country, Lakewood, and Shore of Calvert. Approved the information be posted on the County website.
Deferred an appointment for the Fire & Rescue Commission until Feb. 15, 2005.
Approved the President of the Board to sign an amended payment-in-lieu of taxes (PILOT) agreement for the Southern Pines Apartments under the Housing Authority of Calvert County. This amendment would exempt 20 partnership units from a $3,000 payment in years six through fifteen.
Approved and authorized the President to sign a utility easement agreement with the Housing Authority as part of the expansion of the Solomons Sanitary District that includes Lusby Town Center and the Patuxent Business Park. This utility easement allows water lines to cross a portion of the Southern Pines Senior Housing Complex and allow them to connect to the County water system at no cost to the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority will pay for water at the rates to be determined for the extension of the Sanitary District.
Approved to sell advertising space on County Transportation buses, and requested staff to return with additional information before releasing Request for Proposals.
Awarded a contract for $128,400 to Calvert Well Drilling to drill wells at Cove Point Park, Hallowing Point Park, Dunkirk District Park, and Grays Road Recreation Area.
Awarded a contract for $328,775 to Gradient Construction for the Cove Point Aquatic Center Phase III Sewage Pump Station. Approved the contract for 1) pump station, 2) force main, and 4) electrical service (excludes item #3 gravity line on the PBP). The County will use $50,000 contingency funds to install a temporary aluminum line above ground from the road to the pump station which will be removed when MEDCO installs the permanent gravity feed line.
Reviewed the Calvert County mid-term report, recommended some revisions, and requested the final draft come back to the Commissioners for approval.
Signed a three-year lease agreement with SYB Optimist of Lusby for the Cove Point Park concessions.
