Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, May 3, 2005
Declared the month of May as Historic Preservation Month.
The Office on Aging presented the Senior Arts Competition awards to the Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and presented all participants with a token of appreciation.
Approved $12,000 to remain in the FY’06 budget for the continuation of the Mill Creek Water Quality Study.
Agreed to partner with the College of Southern Maryland for a Wellness Center (indoor swimming pool facility) at the Prince Frederick campus. Authorized $447,000 in FY 2006 to be used for architecture and engineering fees for this project. Approved $367,500 in FY 2006 to be used for parking lots at the College of Southern Maryland for the Wellness Center.
Authorized the Department of Public Works to work with SHA to initiate a traffic study in regards to a traffic light on Route 231 at the College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick campus.
Approved re-appointment of Gilbert Poudrier and Lucy Tonacci to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Approved re-appointment of Sheryl Jones Alu, Charles Bucy, and Merle Heilman, and the appointment of Nicholas J. Ferrante to the Ethics Commission.
Approved the re-appointment of Mary Eisenman to the Heritage Committee.
Approved honoring the agreement dated July 28, 1998 to work with COA on the development and construction of sidewalks on the property at the corner of Church and Main Streets.
Approved certification of development options for William and Darlene Bowen, and Edward M. and Bridget S. Bowen.
Approved the tax credit of $381.10 for the restoration of Flippos Guest Cabin at Scientists’ Cliffs.
