Joint Work Session On Set 2 and Set 3

  • Set 2 contains the Proposed Use Tables for the:
      Industrial (I-1) District;
      Rural Commercial (RC) District;
      Marine Commercial (MC) District;
     
    Employment  Center(EC) District
  • Set 2 was discussed at the April 26th Joint Work Session;
  • Staff will summarize the comments received at the May 11th Public Forum (Attachment 1);
  • 10-minute staff presentation on answers to the  Commissioners’ previous questions (Attachment 2)

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Discussion of Set 3

  • Set 3 contains the Proposed Use Tables for the:
      Rural Districts (FCD, RPD, RCD, APD, & HD);
      Residential Districts (R1/R2, TR);
     
    Town  Center(TC) Districts;
  • 20-minute staff presentation on tourism uses outside of the  TownCentersand a summary of the process thus far (Attachment 3)

BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, June 7, 2005

Held a Public Hearing regarding snow removal costs. Approved Budget Adjustment #483 in the amount of $379,636 to cover cost overruns for snow removal and signed the related resolution.

Recognized the first graduating class from the Community Emergency Response Training Program (CERT).

The Historic District Commission presented the new book The Money Crop:  Calvert County After the Tobacco Buyout to the Board of County Commissioners.

Approved Budget Adjustment #576 in the amount of $41,200 to cover the unanticipated increases in fuel costs and maintenance expenses for the Transportation Division, transferring from several general fund accounts.

Approved Budget Adjustment #587 in the amount of $36,200 for the replacement of the emergency generator for the Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad. Directed staff to report back to the Board with an activity summary for the year for the entire recruitment and retention effort. The Board would also like to know which of the fire and rescue squads have emergency generators to act as shelters if needed.

Adopted the FY 2006 Budget as presented at the Public Hearing held on May 17, 2005, and signed the related resolution. Directed staff to have a meeting with the County Employee Representative Committee in order to come up with a standard for calculating the cost of living adjustment each year and bring it back to the Board.

Awarded the contract for the construction of the realigned intersection of Rousby Hall Road, Olivet Road, and the Patuxent High School entrance to Rustler Construction, Inc. from Lanham, Maryland. Directed staff to write a letter to the state requesting reimbursement for this contract.

Approved raising the fees at the Solomons Boat Ramp as recommended by staff and as approved by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). There was no change in fees to the out-of-state vessels. Directed staff to get a copy of the original letter sent by staff to DNR.

Maryland Registered Boaters –

  Daily fee increased by $.50, bringing it to $5.00

  Seasonal fee increased by $12.50, bringing it to $25.00.

Held a joint work session with the Planning Commission to review the re-write of the Zoning Ordinance.
