Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, June 21, 2005
Recognized Aimee Whitman as employee of the month for her outstanding work on the County’s new web site.
Recognized the winners of the History Fair Advancers. Calvert County took top honors in several categories.
The Board thanked the staff of the Department of Community Resources for their hard work on the bus advertising project, however, voted to stop any discussions on taking this project forward.
Approved a two year extension on the debt service agreement for Chesapeake Hills Golf Course through FY 2008, and directed staff to amend the existing agreement.
Held a public hearing to establish the Economic Development Incentive Fund (EDIF). The Board approved the ordinance to establish the EDIF.
Approved the request to hold the “Pump for the Bay” contest to help educate property owners about the importance of pumping out their septic systems regularly.
Approved and signed the agreement extending the contract with DWI Services, Inc. through December 31, 2005, allowing continued use of the currently occupied space and equipment for the continued operation of a residential substance abuse treatment program in accordance with ADAA guidelines.
Approved Budget Adjustment #660 for Animal Control in the amount of $3,000 to cover additional expenses incurred due to the increased cost of gasoline and unanticipated repairs to an older Animal Control vehicle.
Awarded contract 2005-035 to Taylor Bryce Construction Company from Shepherdstown, West Virginia, for the bid of $10,500 for repairs to the JC Lore Oyster House.
Approved the procedure for obtaining permission to serve alcoholic beverages and use of the Indemnification Statement as presented by the staff of the Department of General Services.
Authorized the staff of the Department of Planning & Zoning to take the FY 2006 Program Open Space Annual Program to the Department of Natural Resources. Directed staff that, in the future, any changes should be shown highlighted, and the Program Open Space should be submitted to the Board with ample time to make changes if necessary.
Held a work session on the 2005 Water and Sewer Plan. The Board authorized the staff of the Department of Planning and Zoning to take the Water and Sewer Plan to public forum.
Held a work session to review the re-write of the Zoning Ordinance – Town Center Land Use. The Board authorized the staff of the Department of Planning and Zoning to take the Zoning Ordinance re-write to public forum and then to public hearing to be held on August 9, 2005.
