Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, September 20, 2005
Presentation was given by Ricky Thomas, Office of Special Operations and Homeland Security, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, on the Hurricane Katrina Relief disaster assistance that Calvert County delivered to its sister County of Harrison County, Mississippi. St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department transported the donated supplies directly to the Harrison County Office of Emergency Management, which was very grateful to receive the supplies.
Re-appointed Thomas W. Bird, Greg Bowen, and Dominic Raino to the Calvert County Employees’ Retirement Plan Board.
Re-appointed Thomas W. Bird, Marshal S. Gibson, Pamela R. Lucas, and Jenny Plummer-Welker and appointed Nicholas Roseto, Jr., to the Calvert County Employees’ Retirement Savings Plan.
Approved the Gambling Permit applications for the 4th quarter of 2005 for the American Legion Post #274 and North Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
Approved President of the Board of County Commissioners to sign the lease agreement with American Tower Corporation.
Approved staff of the Department of Planning and Zoning to begin the hiring process of a Watershed Planner and to apply for additional funding. Directed staff to produce a job description for this new position.
Presentation was given by the Department of Public Works, updating the Board on the several road projects currently underway in the County.
Attended dedication of the Gardens at Linden House.
