The Board will consider recommendations from staff regarding the Director of Public Works
position and the Detention Center Administrator position.
This agenda is subject to change. If any items are added for consideration, they will be included on
a revised agenda that will be issued prior to the closed session.

Summary of Actions Taken
Tuesday, November 8, 2005
Presented a proclamation to the Calvert Optimist Club recognizing November 7 – 14 as Youth Appreciation Week. The Optimist Club recognized 14 local senior students as outstanding youth.
Reappointed Eric L. Packard and Nance Pretto-Simmons to the Economic Development Commission.
Reappointed Stacey Hann-Ruff to the Tourism Advisory Committee.
Approved budget adjustment #201 in the amount of $76,578 for the Board of Education to cover the costs associated with a fire suppressant system and engineering services needed at Appeal Elementary School. Directed staff to bring a revised policy regarding taps for fire suppressant systems back to the Board for consideration.
Approved staff’s recommendation to use the State of Maryland’s contract with Norris Ford, Baltimore, Maryland, for the purchase of twelve (12) 2006 full size law enforcement 4-door sedans for the Sheriff’s Office. Directed staff to find out how many vehicles are currently assigned to the Sheriff’s office and how many of these are unmarked.
Met with Annmarie Garden staff regarding funding for a new 15,400 square foot building. Directed staff to put their request of $500,000 from the Board of County Commissioners for this new building on the schedule for discussion during the FY 2007 CIP Budget work sessions. Also, need to find out true operational costs, including staffing and maintenance.
Directives:
Directed staff to schedule interviews for the top four candidates for the Detention Center Administrator position.
Directed staff to award the Director of Public Works position to Terry Carlson.
Directed staff to give a status report on the $450,000 in the FY 2006 Budget for the Safe Harbor Transitional Housing Project.
Directed staff to find out the status of the Kings Landing Equestrian Center project.
