PERMIT  FAST-TRACKING


Permit Fast-Tracking is a "while you wait" permitting process for Residential accessory structures, additions, and renovations
(decks, sheds, above-ground swimming pools, etc.) 

Inspections & Permits' ~Permit Fast-Tracking~ service is available to customers every Wednesday between 9:30a.m. and 2:00p.m.

THE FOLLOWING PERMIT APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FAST-TRACKING:

Building permit applications to resolve code violations
Building permit applications where the property is located in the Critical Area
Building permit applications that require Grading permits
Commercial Building permit applications


How to Fast-Track a permit:

Step 1
HOA approval or Town approval (North Beach and Chesapeake Beach), if applicable

If the property is located within the Town of Chesapeake Beach, the Town of North Beach, or a Private Community, such as Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Drum Point, White Sands, etc., a stamp of approval from that community will be required as a part of the permit package submittal.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to receive these approvals prior to proceeding to Step 2. 

These approvals are not a part of the Inspections & Permits Fast-Track process.

Step 2
Calvert County Division of Water & Sewer Review [and/or] Environmental Health Department Review

If your property is located on Well or Septic [OR]  Private Water and/or Private Sewer (i.e., North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, White Sands, etc.):

Contact the Environmental Health Department at 410-535-3922 to determine if their review is required prior to submitting to Inspections & Permits for Fast-Tracking, and if they offer Fast-Track review for your scope of work.

If your property is located on Public Water system and/or Public Sewer system (County owned):

Contact the Calvert County Division of Water & Sewerage at 410-535-1600 x2554 to determine if their review is required prior to submitting to Inspections & Permits for Fast-Tracking, and if they offer Fast-Track review for your scope of work.

Step 3
Application for Building Permit

The applicant shall submit the complete Building Permit package (with applicable Step 1 and 2 approvals) to the  Inspections and Permits office for processing. 

Step 4
Application for Building Permit Review

After the complete Building Permit package is processed by the Inspections & Permit's Division it will be  forwarded to the applicable review agencies for review and approval.

Department of Planning & Zoning:

Permits for the Town of Chesapeake Beach and the Town of North Beach do not require Calvert County Department of Planning and Zoning review, however, pre-approval from the Town is required prior to submittal

Engineering Bureau:

Permit applications with Grading Exemption applications will be forwarded to Engineering for review prior to Soil Conservation review

Step 5
Permit Application Payment


When the permit package has been approved by all applicable reviewing agencies, the applicant shall pay all applicable fees, excise taxes, and bonds.  Inspections and Permits' fee and excise taxes shall be paid in the office of the Inspections and Permits Division. 

Step 6
Building Permit

After all applicable payments are received the Inspections and Permit's Division will process the permit for approval and issuance.


NOTE:
-- The official Building permit must be posted conspicuously at the front of the lot.
-- Separate permits are required for projects that include plumbing and electrical work.
-- Inspections shall be requested in the normal course as required by the Acknowledgement of Conditions of Approval signed by the applicant at time of payment.  Depending on construction methods and sequence, additional inspections may be required.
--
The accessory structure, addition, and/or renovation shall not be occupied or used until all building, grading, electrical, and plumbing final inspections are completed and approved.
