Division Overview
Engineering/Transportation reviews all developments to insure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and standards pertaining to the design of roads including stormwater management, drainage and traffic engineering. The division administers road tax district programs, bridge inspections and maintenance programs. The division also manages the design and construction of capital projects and handles all aspects of traffic-related issues ranging from traffic control devices to traffic safety including the SMART radar trailer program. It performs investigations and resolves citizen complaints regarding the function of civil systems and provides civil design and engineering support to other divisions as requested. The division plays an important role in hazard mitigation and emergency operations and provides assistance to private communities and municipalities.

To provide Calvert County citizens with cost-effective, safe, quality and environmentally friendly facilities, infrastructure and services through the application of sound engineering principles, creative planning, quality design, efficient construction and proper maintenance in a team-oriented environment.
