The mission of the Department of Community Resources is to foster a coordinated and collaborative delivery of human services to the citizens of Calvert County.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide oversight and direction to:
Serve as government liaison with citizens, as well as all local human service agencies, including:
FUNCTIONS:
- Make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on human service issues.
- Investigate citizen issues relating to the provision of human services.
- Respond to inquiries from citizens and professionals seeking information and referral on human services.
- Work with community agencies to aid them in responding to grant opportunities that are required to pass through the County Government.
- Administer Homeless Service Grants, the HUD Transitional Housing Program, and the Emergency Food Assistance Program.
- Oversee the administration of the Highway Safety Grant.
- Serve as County Government’s Grievance & Compliance Office for the American with Disabilities Act*
- Facilitate the Citizen’s Review Panel for Child Abuse & Neglect.
- Provide staff participation on the following Boards/ Commissions/Councils:
- Community Health Roundtable
- Calvert County Homeless Services Board
- Local Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council
- Traffic Safety Council

The Department of Community Resources provides guidance, information and assistance to all other County offices, agencies and departments with regard to the provisions of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990. It also responds to inquiries from the public with regard to County Government compliance with the Act.
