County Resident Paper Shredding Events
Calvert County residents can destroy unwanted confidential papers and documents to help prevent identity theft or to simply dispose of them properly. Residential paper shredding events are free. All shredded papers are recycled and turned into new products. Paper Shredding Events are held monthly. These events are not open to commercial businesses. Proof of residency is be required.

County Business Paper Shredding Events
Calvert County businesses can destroy unwanted confidential papers and documents to help purge old files. Commercial business paper shredding events are free. All shredded papers are recycled and turned into new products. These events are for businesses located within Calvert County. Proof of location is required. There was a limit of 5 banker's boxes of papers per business.

County Resident Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days
Certain household products may contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients. These household hazardous waste products contain ingredients that require special care when you dispose of them. Improper disposal, such as pouring them down the drain or putting them into the trash, pollutes the environment and poses a health threat. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days allow Calvert County residents to dispose of these products for free. These event is not open to commercial businesses. Proof of residency is required.

County Resident Live Christmas Tree and Live Greens Recycling (seasonal)
Calvert County residents can take their live Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands to county convenience centers for recycling at no charge from December 26, 2016 through January 31, 2017. After January 31, 2017, all live trees, wreaths and garlands must be brought to the Appeal Landfill, and standard yard waste fees will apply. All live materials will be mulched. Mulch is available to county residents for free.
