National Night Out

NOTICE:  As of 3:00 p.m. August 7th Queensberry and Patuxent Palisades/Shores of Calvert will not participate in National Night Out.

Join us on August 7th as 28 communities participate in National Night Out activities.   The 35th Annual National Night Out is a unique crime prevention event sponsored nationwide by the National Association of Town Watch and locally by the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc.

National Night Out is designed to:  (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community  partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Come out and meet your neighbors.  Enjoy great food and interact with local law enforcement, fire/rescue personnel and agency representatives to learn more about how you can support your community and make a positive difference.

This is a free event.  Dinner will be provided.  Door Prizes for attendees.

This is event is to thank families who are raising children who aren't theirs.  We will have speakers and local agencies in attendance to share resource information and answer questions.  Activities for children ages five and older will be available.

"Step By Step" 5K and Half Mile Kids' Super Hero Dash

Join us on Saturday, November 3rd for the 18th Step by Step 5K held in memory of Mike Blackwell and the first annual Kids' 1/2 mile Super Hero Dash.  

The 5k beings and ends at the Calvert Marine Museum covering scenic Solomons on hard roads and through residential areas.  No dogs or pets.  Stollers are allowed.  Free t-shirts for the first 125 paid registrants.  Awards for runners in all categories, overall runner (male and female)  and the top three walkers.

The Kids' Half Mile is for children six and under.  Participants will run on the grassy area just beside the Calvert Marine Museum parking lot.  No dogs or pets.  Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite super hero costume (be sure they are safe to run in).  Super Hero Dash participants do not receive a t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top runner in each category (ages 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6).  All participates receive a certificate and the child voted the best super hero costume wins a $25 gift card.
