Join us to watch and cheer on your favorite officers as the Calvert County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police, Barrack "U" battle it out for bragging rights as the 2014 Calvert Classic Winner.   You won't want to miss a great night of fun and laughter for the entire family.

New this year is a poster/photo contest for students ages 10 to 13 based on the "Above the Influence" Campaign.   Prizes will be awarded for the top three entrees.   We'll have halftime entertainment, as well as food vendors and local organizations with giveaways and great information to share.

Learn more about the prescription drug and heroin problem in Calvert County. 

Join us for an evening of breakout sessions focusing on early diagnosis of substance abuse, how to support someone who has an addiction issue, and treatment and rehabilitation programs.   There will be an opportunity to talk with other families who are dealing with substance abuse issues and/or someone in recovery to learn how they have been successful.

National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month

In Calvert County, from January 2013 to November 2013, there were 621 alcohol and/or drug impaired driving arrests, of which 27 were unde rthe age or 21.

Impaired driving is one of the most often committed crimes, randomly killiing someone in America every 30 minutes.  That means you, your family, and friends may be innocent victims.   Help protect our roadways this holiday season and for the entire year.  Don't let your fmaily or friends drive imparied. 

If you are hosting a holiday party, be sure to provide your guests with non-alcoholic beverage choices, lots of food, a place to sleep or a designated driver, if needed.

13th Annual "Step By Step" 5K Fun Run/Walk

This run is in memory of Mike Blackwell.  Mr. Blackwell was a runner killed while jogging on Broomes Island Road.  All proceeds to benefit CAASA Programs.

The 3.1-mile (MD 12024JS) begins and ends at the Calvert Marine Museum covering scenic Solomons on hard roads and through residential areas.  No Dogs or Pets.  Strollers allowed.  Prizes will be awarded to male and female runner & walkers in all categories: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over; Best Overall Walker; Oldest Participant; and Youngest Participant.  Free t-shirts provided to the first 150 paid participants.  Refreshments provided to all participants.  Door Prizes too!  Online Registration is powered by at

Prescription Drug Abuse Community Awareness Workshop

Join us for an overview of the prescription drug issue in Calvert County and a mother's story of her daughter's addition.  In addition, participate in breakout sessions led by local experts focusing on the signs of abuse, treatment options, the veiw from the local ER and the effects on local businesses.  There will be helpful resource informatioan and time for questions and answers.

Goody bags will be available for the first 100 attendees and there will be door prize drawings. 

Refreshments will be provided.
