Economic Development
The Department of Economic Development monitors economic trends and works to execute business programs that complement Calvert County. The department’s goal is to attract and retain strong, healthy and dynamic companies of all sizes and industries.

The department also markets the county’s tourism and visitor attractions, provides services and assistance to the business community and administers the county's public information program. For more, download the Department of Economic Development fact sheet.

Retail Analysis Report
The Board of County Commissioners engaged Fore Consulting to conduct this 2011 study on retail purchasing power and space demand to inform the effort to develop the former Calvert Middle School site in Prince Frederick.

Business Appreciation Week 2014

This year Business Appreciation Week was held May 5-9 and featured special events and activities to thank businesses of all sizes for their contributions to the county’s economy and quality of life. This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Spirit of Entrepreneurship,” recognizes the companies that show the grit, determination, perseverance and passion to succeed.

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Calvert You Are Beautiful Volunteer Awards. This project recognizes individuals whose volunteer service improves the quality of life for Calvert County citizens and visitors. Nomination forms are available online or by calling the Department of Economic Development at 410-535-4583. Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered to the Department of Economic Development by July 11, 2014.
