Department Overview

Providing dependable and secure computing systems and technological solutions to assist Calvert County Government departments accomplish their goals.

Mission and Goals

Provide citizens, the business community and county staff with reliable and convenient access to appropriate information and technology services. Construct and operate a reliable and cost-effective communications, network and computing infrastructure on which to conduct and provide county services to improve the integration and function of county applications.

Deliver timely and effective responses to customer requests. Implement technology solutions which reduce time-to-answer customer questions and requests. Increase the ability to receive inquiries and information via web forms thereby improving each county department's ability to support our citizens, businesses and visitors.

Analysis and Consultation
Provide consulting assistance and services for improved office automation. Work with county agencies and relevant stakeholders to improve business practices and operations by understanding their needs. Coordinate the best-of-breed technology solutions by effectively planning, budgeting, implementing and managing throughout the life-cycle of these efforts. Provide vision and leadership for evaluating new technologies. 

Effectively communicate information about plans, projects and achievements to county staff, customers and the citizens we serve.

Develop and retain a professional staff which remains competent in new technologies.

Department Objectives for FY16
  • Complete the upgrade of the County financial and human resources systems and implement new system functionality to streamline business processes. 
  • Complete the field verification of public water and sewer infrastructure in priority areas and create standard operating maps for County staff. 
  • Complete the upgrade of the County land management system and implement new functionality to streamline business processes. 
  • Complete the implementation of the new Enterprise Computer Aided Dispatch module that will provide increased system functionality including the ability to operate independently of the overall system. 
  • Increase backbone and campus wide network bandwidth at the Appeal Landfill. 
  • Upgrade or replace our existing county wide web filtering software.
