Updating the Solomons Town Center MASTER PLAN
|
- Adopted Plan: The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners voted on August 25, 2009, to adopt the Solomons Master Plan as recommended by the Planning Commission. Click here to view the approved and adopted Solomons Master Plan.
- Approved Plan: The Planning Commission voted on July 29, 2009, to approve the Solomons Town Center Master Plan and to recommend adoption of the plan by the Board of County Commissioners.

- July 29, 2009: Planning Commission Special Meeting. The Planning Commission will be reviewing comments on the draft Solomons Town Center Master Plan, reviewing Staff's analysis, and taking action on approving the draft Plan. The Planning Commission will be reviewing comments on the draft Solomons Town Center Zoning Ordinance and making recommendations on the Solomons Town Center Zoning Ordinance, the proposed amendments to the Solomons Town Center Zoning Map, and the proposed amendments to the Calvert County Zoning Ordinance. - July 7, 2009: The Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners held the record open for written comments on the draft Solomons Town Center Master Plan and the draft Solomons Town Center Zoning Ordinance. The record closes at 4:30 PM on July, 7, 2009. For more details, click here. - February 18, 2009: Planning Commission meeting rescheduled from January 27, 2009. Refer to entry below for link for agenda and links to staff memorandum and comments submitted on the second draft of the plan.

- January 27, 2009: Planning Commission Special Meeting, agenda includes Staff presentation/Commission discussion on comments received on the second draft of the Solomons Master Plan. More information available on the Planning Commission's web page, click here. MEETING CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. MEETING WAS RESCHEDULED TO FEB. 18, 2009.
- Tuesday, December 16, 2008: Deadline to submit comments on the Second Draft of the Master Plan: For more details, refer to December 2, 2008, below.
- December 2, 2008: Planning Commission Public Forum on the Solomons Town Center Master Plan Update.
Staff provided an overview of the second draft of the Solomons Town Center Master Plan. Attendees were invited to speak on the second draft. Citizens, organizations, and business owners are invited to make/submit comments to the Planning Commission regarding the update by Tuesday, December 16, 2008. For details on submitting comments, refer to the Second Draft of the Master Plan, page 2 of the PDF document.

- September 24, 2008: Planning Commission Review of Solomons Master Plan Update Comments
The Planning Commission will review comments submitted on the first draft of the Master Plan update. The meeting will be held at the Courthouse Square, located at 205 Duke Street, Prince Frederick and begin at 7:00 PM. Access is via the Duke Street parking lot.
- September 2, 2008: Comments due on the Solomons Master Plan, Reorganized and Updated Draft, July 31, 2008. The Master Plan is available, see link below under the July 31, 2008 entry. Comments may be sent by email, fax, mail, or hand delivered. See second page of the draft Solomons Master Plan for submission information.
- August 26, 2008: Solomons Master Plan Update Presentation and Discussion
If you have questions about the draft Master Plan, or if you were unable to attend the presentation on July 31st and wish to see the presentation, a Planning & Zoning Department staff person will be available to discuss the draft plan and to present the slideshow. Calvert Marine Museum, Times: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, Slideshow Presentation Times: 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
- July 31, 2008: Solomons Master Plan & Zoning Ordinance Update – Presentation
The Planning & Zoning Department staff made a presentation on the Solomons Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance update. Staff provided an overview of the first draft of the Solomons Master Plan update and a kick-off for the Solomons Zoning Ordinance update. Copies of the first draft of the Solomons Master Plan update were distributed at the meeting. The first draft is available on web (see below). Comments on the first draft are due Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

- June 25, 2008: Planning Commission hosted speaker Thomas Hylton.
- November 6-8, 2007: Commercial Core Charrette. This multi-day design workshop provided citizens and business owners the opportunity to share their vision of what they would like the 'Island's commercial core to be in the future. This intensive and interactive design workshop will include the development of design alternatives and a preliminary list of actions for the preferred alternatives. Click here to download the flyer.
