Calvert County Flood Mitigation Plan                     Staff Memorandum                Slide Presentation

The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level hearing room of the Courthouse Square Office Building, 205 Main Street, Prince Frederick, Maryland to consider adoption of the first Calvert County Flood Mitigation Plan.  The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Hearing Room, 175 Main Street, Prince Frederick, Maryland to consider adoption of the first Calvert County Flood Mitigation Plan.

 

The Flood Mitigation Plan provides a history of flood events in the County, identifies where properties are at risk and estimates the value of structures in the floodplain, recommends emergency management strategies for properties in the floodplain, recommends new regulations be adopted for properties in the floodplain, and prioritizes recommendations and proposes an implementation strategy for the flood management measures.  Interested persons are urged to view the draft Flood Mitigation Plan on the County website at http://www.co.cal.md.us/government/departments/planning/floodplain.asp  or by contacting the Department of Planning and Zoning at 410-535-1600 x2338 or 301-855-1243 x2338.
