23RD ANNUAL CALVERT COUNTY
HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Since 1989, the Calvert County Board of Commissioners has presented awards for outstanding achievements in historic preservation.  There are three categories of awards: Preservation Project Awards, Preservation Service Awards, and Preservation Education Awards.  You are encouraged to nominate any individual, business, organization, building or project that deserves recognition.

Preservation Project Award
This award recognizes excellence in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings, interpretation of architectural features and compatible design in new construction, and adaptive reuse of historic structures.  Judging standards include architectural integrity and compatibility, successful adaptation or use of a historic structure, quality of construction, craftsmanship, or technical excellence.  All nominated projects must be in Calvert County and must have been completed by January 1, 2011.

Preservation Service Award
This award recognizes outstanding achievement in and support for furthering the aims of historic preservation in Calvert County, including: research, development, planning, advocacy, and community leadership.  Individuals, businesses, and organizations are eligible. All nominated individuals must live or work in Calvert County.  All nominated businesses and organizations must be located in Calvert County.

Preservation Education Award
This award recognizes outstanding achievement in public education furthering the aims of historic preservation in Calvert County.  Individuals, businesses, and organizations are eligible.  All nominated individuals must live and/or work in Calvert County. The nominated public education projects or programs must be located in Calvert County.
