Updating the Lusby Town Center Master Plan & Zoning Ordinance

  • Lusby Town Center Village Green Design Concept Alternatives:  Comments due Monday January 12, 2009:  The Planning Commission is seeking comments on the Lusby Town Center Village Green Design Concept Alternatives.  Deadline to submit comments is Monday, January 12, 2009.  Comments may be submitted by e-mail, fax, mail, or in person.  E-mail: pz@co.cal.md.us; fax: 410-414-3092; mail: Attn.: Ms. Pat Haddon, Planning & Zoning Department, 150 Main Street, Suite 304, Prince Frederick, MD 20678; or in person at the Planning & Zoning Department, 150 Main Street, Suite 304, Prince Frederick, MD.  For more details, refer to October 7 & 8, 2008, below.
  • October 7 & 8, 2008:  Lusby Town Center Village Green Design Workshop
    The Planning Commission hosted a two-day design workshop (charrette) with the goal of providing citizens and business owners the opportunity to share their vision of what they would like the Village Green to be in the future.  This interactive design workshop included the presentation of three alternative concepts and the development of a fourth alternative concept compiled from input from participants.  The final design concept will help guide Village Green improvements and development as the County goes forward with implementation.  To view the invitation flyer, click here.

  • June 25, 2008:    Planning Commission hosted speaker Thomas Hylton. Mr Hylton wrote the book, "Save Our Land, Save Our Towns," and produced a documentary by the same name.  The documentary is available for viewing on our website, click here.  Both the book and documentary (in DVD format) are available from the Calvert County Library.   Click here to go to the Calvert County Public Library's catalog to reserve your copy.
  • Photo Survey Residents and business owners were invited to offer their opinions about the visual quality of the Town Center.  Participants were asked to submit up to 10 photographs (either digitally or in print) and a Photo Survey Log. Deadline for submission was Thursday, June 5, 2008.
  • May 15, 2008:    Walking Tour of the Lusby Town Center.  This workshop provided citizens and business owners the opportunity to take a close look at the Lusby Town Center business core and provide input on important issues regarding the Town Center's Master Plan.  Participants were asked to bring their own cameras for a photography survey.  A brief presentation was held prior to the walk. Links to the handouts are below.

  • Lusby Traffic Study Briefing from State Highway Administration to the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners on July 17, 2007.  Study area from Cove Point Road to Newtown Road.  The Board supported the recommendations presented for road improvements through the year 2030 for the roadway network in the Lusby area.
