CREATE! for Seniors

The CREATE! for Seniors program provides a retirement solution for the citizens of Calvert County with developmental disabilities. Located at Calvert Pines Senior Center, Prince Frederick, the program offers an atmosphere of acceptance and mutual respect. The program encourages seniors to take part in senior center activities, with support of a professional who is knowledgeable about the needs of seniors with developmental disabilities. It empowers seniors to enjoy their retirement years in a non-stressful environment. CREATE! participates are free to meet new friends, enjoy old hobbies and explore new ones. Our staff encourages full participation in retirement pursuits, providing a level of support that might delay entry into a more restrictive setting.

Who is eligible?

The CREATE! for Seniors program is open to persons aged 55 plus who have a developmental disability and who are able to participate in senior center activities. Seniors who are interested will need to be accepted by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration for daytime funding. If a senior does not have funding in place, please contact us.

Services

Each person in the CREATE! for Seniors program has a developmental disablilities professional who assists each senior with developing their yearly Individual Plan. This plan focuses on matching the senior's personal interest and needs with classes and services at the senior center. There is a wide range of support, from structured weekday activities and classes (9:00AM - 2:30PM) to the coordination of independent access to other special events and programs available to all seniors at Calvert Pines Senior Center.
