Mail Service
Incoming and outgoing mail is accepted and delivered by Correctional Staff only. All incoming mail is logged, opened and inspected for contraband, however, the mail is not censored. Mail is confiscated when there is probable cause to believe the contents are a threat to the security of the Detention Center or that the mail is being used in an illegal activity. Visitors may not bring mail to the Detention Center Inmates are only permitted to have four (4) or less personal photos in their room at any time. Photos are to be no larger than 4 inches by 6 inches, instamatic or Polaroid type photo's will not be accepted. Photo's received through the mail in excess of four will be returned to the sender.
Incoming mail with return address on addressee labels, or without a full return address and full name will be returned to the sender. If there is no return address, the mail will be returned to the post office.
Cartoons, labels, stickers, calendars, puzzle book pages, drawings made with paint, glue, glitter, tape, etc., provocative material (photographs/pictures/drawings), magazine pages and newspaper clippings, photo-copied pictures, stamps, envelopes, and blank correspondence etc. will be considered contraband and disposed of. The Detention Center is not responsible for mail that is damaged or lost by the post office.
