Community Action Team

The Community Action Team is a newly established unit within the Sheriff's Office. The Community Action Team, or CAT, has six (6) sworn Sheriff's Office deputies assigned to the unit. The CAT Team has numerous responsibilities. These responsibilities are:
- Attend Neighborhood Watch Meetings,
- Attend Homeowners Association Meetings
- Address Neighborhood Complaints
- Conduct Residential Security Surveys
- Conduct Commercial Security Surveys
- Conduct Speed & Traffic Enforcement Initiatives in the Communities & Roadways in Calvert County
- Develop an email list of neighborhoods & local businesses so updates of crime trends & notifications can be disseminated in a timely fashion
- Conduct proactive patrols in neighborhoods, followed up with aggressive enforcement when necessary
- D.A.R.E. instruction in the six (6) middle schools, as well as several private schools
- Public education – safety talks, occupant protection lectures & mock crashes at the high schools
- Drunk driving awareness education & enforcement to include sobriety checkpoints & DUI saturation patrols.
