Sacred Spaces Sacred Places Patuxent River Overlook

Along the shore of the Patuxent River, Kings Landing Park has a history stretching back to Captain John Smith's exploration and earlier. Once an active farm and later a YMCA camp, it is now managed by Calvert County's Natural Resources Division. Kayakers, canoeists, and fishermen enjoy Kings Landing's access to the river, nearby creeks, and marshes.

Experience the Patuxent River. Enjoy the scenic views of the river and wetlands, fish from the pier or launchyour kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard and explore the marshes of the Patuxent River.

The equestrian facility includes a 150 x 300 riding ring, judge's stand, restrooms, and water hydrants. It is suggested that equine enthusiasts call ahead to check on availability. Each horse owner should obtain a free permit.

Our picnic pavilions and Tom Wisner Hall are perfect for group picnics, family reunions, wedding receptions and other events. These facilities require advance reservations and appropriate fees apply. Download a slide show of Wisner Hall (PDF) (5.0 MB).

Interested in overnight camping, the park offers primitive camping for youth groups.
