National Night Out

August 6th is National Night Out in Calvert County.  Sponsored locally by the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (CAASA) in partnership with the Maryland State Police, Barrack “U” and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office this is a great opportunity for residents to join together to promote the best of their neighborhoods and encourage partnerships with local law enforcement and local agencies.   Currently, 24 communities will participate in the August 6th event.  They include:

Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Do you have unused or expired medications you need to get rid of? If so, stop by one of the locations listed above on April 27th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and local law enforcement will collect and discard them for you. No questions asked. 

Help us keep medications from falling into the wrong hands and being misused. Collect and dispose of your unused and expired meds on April 27th.

"Let's Talk" Mental Health and Your Teen: What's the Connection to Substance Use?

This Let's Talk event will be led by Christina Spangler, Southern  Maryland Regional Supervisor, Maryland Coalition of Families, and Ginger Rosela, Family Peer Support Specialist, Maryland Coalition of Families. 

The Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) helps families who care for someone with behavioral health needs. Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth and other loved ones, we connect, support and empower Maryland's families. The MCF staff provide one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of young people with mental health issues and to any loved one who cares for someone with a substance use or gambling issue.

This is a FREE event.

Drug-Free Workplace Training

This training will educate local business owners on the signs and symptoms of substance use, how an employee's substance use disorder affects their work and the overall business and the purpose and benefit of a drug-free workplace policy. 

Presented by:  Stephanie Newman, MS, LCPC, LCADC, NCC, Calvert Behavioral Health, Dual Diagnosis Counselor; Robin Iachini, RN, Health Services Manager, Chesapeake Employers Insurance; and Helen White, Owner, White Glove Drug Testing.

This is a FREE event.  Seating is limited. Registration is REQUIRED.
