Calvert County Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan Stakeholders Sessions
The Calvert County Government and the firm of GreenPlay, LLC invite you to participate in a focus group meeting to gather your input on identifying the community’s needs and expectations related to parks, recreation, and land preservation for the next several years. The county is currently updating the Calvert County Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP). The LPPRP is a comprehensive document used as a planning tool by local governments to provide public parks and recreation facilities and protect natural resources. To maintain eligibility for Program Open Space funding, the State of Maryland requires that counties update their
LPPRP on a periodic basis. The plan serves as a tool for the county to document key issues, goals, and strategies for improving the system of public parks, recreation facilities, and open spaces managed by Calvert County.
The process to update the LPPRP offers the opportunity to reassess priorities in light of population growth, changing economic conditions, and social preferences. The Calvert County plan, along with the plans from other counties, will be used by the state to guide planning, funding and programs to meet land preservation, parks and recreation needs state-wide. Focus group meetings bring together small groups of community members who represent various parks, recreation, land conservation, and cultural resource groups to share and discuss concerns, praise, and ideas for enhancing the county's system of public parks and open space system. We are very interested in hearing your ideas and hope that you will be able to attend one of the stakeholder meetings on March 20th or 21st, 2017.
